With the launch of our very first seasonal blend, we knew this coffee would really need to stand out and set a high bar for future memorable and distinctive seasonal blends to follow. We all know summers can be hot, so our number one priority is for the KAHA Summertime Blend to be refreshing across various brew methods and temperatures – Hot, Iced and Cold Brewed.

Some notable attributes that make this coffee really stand out are:

• A fruit-forward flavor profile and fragrant aroma
• Refreshing across various brew methods and temperatures (Hot, Iced, Cold Brewed)
• A lingering sweetness that perfectly complements the overall cup profile
• Complemented well by milk, cream, oat milk and almond milk


The first component we chose for this blend is a beautiful Single Origin coffee from Tanzania, grown in the fertile soils of the 250-hectare Ngila Estate. A stand-out feature of this coffee is that it is made up completely of the famed SL-28 varietal prized for its cup quality and distinctive fruit flavors.

Roast Level: Medium Roast TypeFilter Roast - With this Tanzanian coffee being the SL-28 varietal and quite dense, our goal to roasting this coffee was to bring out all the beautiful fruit notes this varietal is famous for. In our approach to achieving this, we knew we needed maximum bean development without any signs of over roasting. We began by using a relatively cool coffee drum (charge temperature) when dropping this coffee into our roaster and immediately applied maximum flame until one minute before first crack, then we turn up the airflow and turn off the gas. This allows the coffee to coast through the remainder of the roast cycle while leaving enough time for the heat in the drum to gently radiate into center of the bean.


The second component we chose is a lively Single Origin coffee from Kenya – also known as Kenya Babu Tembo. This AA graded coffee adds an incredible overlay of sweetness and body. This is where the subtle notes of graham cracker come from.

Roast Level: Light/Medium Roast TypeFilter Roast - At a growing elevation of 2,300 meters above sea level, we knew this coffee was going to require a lot of energy to bring out our desired flavor profile of sweetness and a full body, while only roasting it to a light/medium level. Generally speaking, a higher grown coffee matures slower allowing the sugars in the cherry to make their way into the coffee seed and largely increase the sweetness of the coffee. After many sample batches we found this coffee responds best and achieves our desired flavor with a hotter drum and higher airflow.


As with most high quality specialty coffee, this coffee is protected by GrainPro hermetic storage solutions to protect the freshness of the coffee while protecting it from mycotoxins due to mold/fungus growth which can compromise the integrity of a specialty coffee.


Recommended Brew Methods: Hario V60, Kalita Wave, Beehouse Brewer, Chemex, AeroPress, and all electric drip coffee machines. Brews extremely well hot, over ice, or cold brewed.
