Cacao | Black Cherry | Intense
KAHA Coffee Roasters is excited to announce the arrival of the Diagonal Espresso Blend! We have taken our time with this blend and have approached the development of this espresso blend with the following goals in mind:
- Develop an espresso that stands up to steamed milk but can be enjoyed as a straight shot or as an Americano.
- Create an espresso blend that is a contrast to the extreme smoothness of our Vertical Espresso blend with an intense kick as part of the coffee's overall profile.
- Lean in to the flavors of natural cacao for a robust, bold flavor while introducing deep fruity notes.
- Source beans from multiple origins with every bean bringing its own unique characteristics to the blend and not be afraid of too many components for the blend.
Through extensive testing, we have taken three different origins: Brazil, Colombia, and Mexico to create what we feel is a beautiful mixture of flavors and textures.
Brazil is a great start for this espresso blend as it brings texture in the form of crema and body to the table as well as some of the chocolate notes which are exactly what we were looking for in this blend.
Mexican beans bring depth in the form of rich notes of cacao and another layer of body in addition to the Brazil.
The Colombia Huila beans brings complexity and vibrancy in the form of distinct cherry tasting notes. In addition we feel the acidity of this vibrant coffee give this blend it's intense characteristics which allow this espresso to cut through steamed milk for lattes, cappuccinos, cortados, etc.
We could not be happier with this espresso blend and we invite you to pull shots of the Diagonal Blend and our Vertical Espresso blend to compare and contrast the two blends. We feel that the Vertical Espresso blend is extremely smooth and well suited for straight shots and Americanos while the Diagonal is more intense, lending it to be well suited for steamed milk drinks, Americanos, and even for straight shots with a more intense kick.

*Like other fruits, coffee is seasonal and we love that! Because of this seasonality, we will occasionally switch out a component for another coffee variety with very similar characteristics. By changing the components with the seasons, we are able to offer the most vibrant coffee flavors all year round, which also allows for importing the freshest green coffee possible.
