COFFEE MARKET UPDATE: SHIPPING COSTS

We want to share an important update about shipping costs with our customers.

As many of you have undoubtedly seen in the news, the global oil and fuel market is experiencing significant turbulence. Due to the turbulence and increased costs on fuel, our shipping costs have increased for deliveries of green coffee, boxes, bags, tape, etc.

We have also started to see increased costs of direct to consumer shipments and we are aware of the USPS shipment increase which was announced in early April. These shipping cost increases from carriers such as USPS and UPS will be updated in the shipping costs passed on to customers.

KAHA Coffee Roasters has tried to absorb as much of this turbulence as possible over the past several weeks. However, in order to continue producing the high quality coffee our customers have come to expect, we have made the decision to first increase the free shipping threshold. Previously our free shipping threshold was free shipping for coffee orders of $55 or more. That threshold has had more of a negative impact than anticipated and much faster than anticipated. To help mitigate this, we have made the decision to increase the threshold to free shipping on coffee orders of $75 or more.

We don’t take the decision to raise the free shipping threshold lightly, but we decided this would be the best first step as opposed to raising prices across the board on our coffees.

KAHA Coffee Roasters is keeping an eye on costs for green coffee, and materials beyond just the increased cost of shipping. We are working hard to keep prices stable, but a cost increase may be necessary as markets and our costs dictate. We will announce any changes in future market updates.

Upcoming Changes To Packaging

In order to not have raised prices even further, you may notice changes to our bags, boxes, etc. in the coming months. These changes to our packing will allow us to keep the focus on bringing in high quality green coffee.
