Brewing At Home - 3 Recipes for KAHA Summertime Blend

With the release of our first seasonal blend, the KAHA Summertime Blend, we wanted to share three recipes we think you'll love during the summer. Our goal with the KAHA Summertime Blend was to create a coffee that was refreshing and delicious hot, iced, or cold brewed.

The recipes below are not only refreshing and delicious, but they are also extremely easy. These are our suggestions, but we always encourage people to experiment with different brew methods, coffee to water ratios, etc. Stay cool this summer, have fun, and enjoy!

Iced Coffee (Drip Machine): Makes 2 servings

  1. Weigh out 600g of filtered, bottled, or spring water and fill your coffee machine (about the two-cup mark)
  2. Weigh out 230g of ice and put in your carafe or coffee pot (about two cups)
  3. Weigh out 70g of KAHA Summertime Blend coffee and grind to a fine consistency (slightly finer than table salt)
  4. Add your paper filter to your brew basket (pre-rinsing your paper filter with hot water is optional, but recommended to get any paper taste out)
  5. Add the 70g of ground KAHA Summertime Blend coffee from step 3 to your brew basket and begin the brewing process
  6. Once brewing is finished, add another half cup of ice or 57.5g into your cup or mug, pour half of the coffee into your cup and drink black or add cream/milk/sweetener to your liking. *We like whole milk, or Oat Milk and a touch of Agave.
  7. Enjoy!

Hot Coffee (Drip Machine): Makes 2 servings

  1. Weigh out 620g of filtered, bottled, or spring water and fill your coffee machine (about the two-cup mark)
  2. Weigh out 36g of KAHA Summertime Blend coffee and grind it to a medium consistency (about the same as table salt)
  3. Add your paper filter to your brew basket (pre-rinsing your paper filter with hot water is optional, but recommended to get any paper taste out)
  4. Add the 36g of ground KAHA Summertime Blend coffee from step 2 to your brew basket and begin the brewing process
  5. One minute into the brew cycle, if your brewer allows, give the coffee and water mixture a quick stir with a spoon in the filter/brew basket. This agitation helps encourage an even extraction of your coffee resulting an a more balanced flavor profile.
  6.  Allow the brew cycle to finish, then pour coffee into your mug and enjoy!

Cold Brew: Makes 4 servings (Using Alto Cold Brew Filter Bags)

  1. Find a brew container/vessel that can hold over half a gallon of water (a pitcher, large mason jar, etc.)
  2. Weigh out 170g of KAHA Summertime Blend coffee (about 6 oz. or half a retail bag)
  3. Weigh out 2000g of filtered, bottled, or spring water (about a half gallon) and add to your brew vessel
  4. Grind your 170g of KAHA Summertime Blend coffee to a medium grind consistency (about the same as table salt)
  5. Add your 170g of KAHA Summertime Blend ground coffee from step 4 into your Alto Cold Brew Filters. We recommend using their large home cold brew filters that are good for up to a gallon worth of cold brew. *You can scale this recipe up to one gallon. Alto Cold Brew filters can be found at: https://altocoldbrew.com/collections/personal/products/alto-home-cold-brew-filters-30-pack
  6. Make sure your filter is sealed properly using the built in draw-string and place the filter (with coffee in side) into your brew vessel filled with water
  7. Let steep in the fridge for 14 hours
  8. Remove the filter from your brew vessel and discard it
  9. Your Cold Brew is ready to drink. Drink black or add cream/milk/sweetener to your liking. Easy, delicious, and refreshing!
