Three Fall Blend Recipes

There's something magical about Fall. With each passing year, we are reminded how beautiful Fall can be, with the leaves of the trees turning bright orange and yellow before they gracefully float to the ground. More so than that, to us Fall is a feeling – a feeling of coziness, and that is exactly what we set out to achieve when crafting our KAHA Fall Blend.

Our Fall Blend is beloved for it's unique combination of richness, depth, smoothness, and hint of vibrancy that brings about a feeling of coziness, perfect for the Fall season!

With the changing of the seasons, one of our most popular seasonal blends of all time is back, and below are three of our favorite recipes for our Fall Blend:

Technivorm Moccamaster KBTS Drip Coffee Machine:
  • 58 g of KAHA Fall Blend medium ground coffee (drip coffee grind size)
  • 8 cups water (32 oz in the Moccamaster water tank) of cold or room temperature filtered or bottled water
  • This is roughly a 1:16 ratio (coffee grounds to water)
  • Place a #4 filter in your filter basket
  • Place your 58 g of coffee grounds into the filter
  • Turn on your Technivorm Moccamaster to begin brewing
The Technivorm Moccamaster is one of our favorite drip coffee machines for several reasons. They are handmade in the Netherlands, have a copper heating element, they are SCA certified for their precision of water temperature, are built to last, and have simple controls. We especially love the thermal carafe option (instead of glass) to keep the coffee at a great temperature. The brew from a Technivorm Moccamaster is similar to some of the best manual coffee brewing methods such as a pour over or Aeropress brewer, resulting in one of the best cups of coffee you can have from a drip coffee machine. This recipe can be adjusted for any drip coffee machine. This is a great recipe to serve a group of people, and great for the holidays!

Bodum French Press 32 oz Size:
  • 58 g of KAHA Fall Blend coarse ground coffee (French Press consistency)
  • 32 oz of cold or room temperature filtered or bottled water
  • This is a 1:16 ratio (coffee grounds to water)
  • Place a #4 filter in your Clever Brewer
  • Pour your coffee grounds into your French Press
  • Boil your water in a kettle or sauce pan
  • Take water off the boil and let come down to 200 degrees (about 45 sec) off the boil
  • Pour your water into the French Press
  • With a spoon, stir the water and coffee grinds until all coffee grinds are saturated
  • Let steep 5 minutes (you can adjust between 4-6 minutes to taste)
  • Press the plunger slowly to extract the coffee
  • Pour immediately so that it does not steep longer and gain bitterness
For this recipe we are using the tried and true Bodum French Press. We usually brew dark roasts in the French press, but this Fall Blend has a depth and richness which allow it to shine with this brew method while still remaining smooth. The French Press is also one of the most easily available coffee brewers in the world. A brew from the French Press results in a heavier body coffee due to the metal mesh filter which allows more oils from the coffee come through as opposed to paper filters. If the brew tastes too bitter, lower the steep time. When brewed at a preferred time, it should result in a deep, rich, smooth and comfy cup of coffee! Enjoy!

Clever Brewer:
  • 15 g of KAHA Fall Blend medium ground coffee (drip coffee grind size)
  • 8 oz (236 ml) of cold or room temperature filtered or bottled water
  • This is roughly a 1:16 ratio (coffee grounds to water)
  • Place a #4 filter in your Clever Brewer
  • Pour your coffee grounds into the filter of the Clever Brewer
  • Boil your water in a kettle or sauce pan
  • Take water off the boil and let come down to 200 degrees (about 45 sec) off the boil
  • Pour your water into the Clever Brewer trying to saturate all dry coffee grinds
  • Let steep 2 mins, 30 secs (you can adjust between 2-5 minutes to taste)
  • Place the Clever Brewer on your favorite mug to begin the dripping (draw down process)
Also known as the Clever Dripper, this is one of our favorite brew methods! The Clever Brewer is a hybrid brewer that gives the characteristics of a full immersion brew method like a French Press (where the coffee and water stay in contact for longer period of time) with the clean cup of a paper filter drip method. The resulting brew from the Clever Brewer is a slightly more vibrant cup than that of the French Press with the depth, richness, and smoothness perfect for a Fall morning!
We hope you enjoy these recipes for our KAHA Fall Blend Coffee! We recommend experimenting with different ratios of coffee and water, different grind sizes, and different steep times for the French Press and Clever Brewer to get the coffee exactly how you want it since coffee is very subjective. Enjoy! ☕
