Our Favorite Summer Blend Recipes

KAHA Coffee Roasters is proud to announce our favorite recipes for the launch of our Summer Blend!

Below are some of our favorite recipes including an iced coffee recipe:

Summer Blend Hario V60 Pour Over Recipe (Hot):
  • 1:18 ratio (1 part ground coffee to 18 parts water)
  • 18 grams coffee
  • 324 ml water
  • 201 F degree water temperature
  • Medium fine grind (pour over grind size) size *10-11 on Baratza Encore grinder
  • Level out the coffee grind bed
  • Using your finger, make a divot in the coffee bed for your first (bloom) pour
  • Start your timer at the first (bloom) pour
  • 36 ml water pour for bloom. Let bloom/rest 40 seconds
  • *For all pours, use a low pour height
  • Second 72 ml pour at 40 seconds
  • Third 72 ml pour at 1:30 mins or when coffee bed starts to dry
  • Fourth 72 ml pour at 2:15 mins or when coffee bed starts to dry
  • Fifth pour 72 ml at 3:00 mins
  • Lift & gently swirl the V60 brewer to get all grinds from side incorporated
  • 5 pours total, including bloom
  • You should finish draw down by 3:50 mins - 4:15 mins
We believe the Hario V60 pour over method results in one of the most bright and complex brews for this coffee. This is our favorite brew method for this coffee. This brew method also requires the most technique. This recipe can also be used for a Chemex pour over brew method resulting in a bright, clean, and delicious cup.

We also recommend heading over to our blog article The Magic Of Bypass Brewing and trying this brew at a 1:15 ratio then using the bypass method of adding hot water after the brew is done to get exactly to the strength and acidity you like.

Summer Blend Aeoropress Recipe (Hot):
  • 1:18 ratio (1 part ground coffee to 18 parts water)
  • 17 grams coffee
  • 306 ml water
  • 200 F degree water temperature
  • Medium grind (drip grind size) size *12 on Baratza Encore grinder
  • Stir with stir stick while pouring water to agitate the grounds
  • Let steep for 40 seconds, then plunge until hissing sound
This Aeorpress recipe results in a sweet cup with bright acidity, great complexity, and medium body. This is our 2nd favorite brew method for this coffee. We love this brew method for its ease of use since you do not need as much technique as a pour over method to achieve a great cup of coffee.

We also recommend heading over to our blog article The Magic Of Bypass Brewing and trying this brew at a 1:15 ratio then using the bypass method of adding hot water after the brew is done to get exactly to the strength and acidity you like.

Summer Blend Aeoropress Recipe (Flash Chilled Iced Coffee):
  • 1:10 ratio (1 part ground coffee to 10 parts water)
  • 20 grams coffee
  • 200 ml water
  • 92 g ice (for flash chilling) in the mug/carafe you are brewing into
  • 200 F degree water temperature
  • Medium grind size *12 on Baratza Encore grinder
  • Stir with stir stick while pouring water to agitate the grounds
  • Let steep for 40 seconds, then plunge onto ice until hissing sound
  • Swirl coffee and ice around to flash chill, ice will melt
  • Add an additional 50 g ice and enjoy the coffee iced
If adding creamer/non-dairy creamer you may consider a ratio closer to 1:8 (more of a concentrate) so the coffee does not get washed out. This is our favorite flash chilled iced coffee brew method for the summer blend . We love this brew method for its speed and convenience to produce an amazing iced coffee that is so refreshing on a hot summer day.

Our philosophy when brewing iced coffee is start at a concentrate, flash chill the coffee during brewing (over ice) which still results in a bit of a concentrate, then serve the chilled coffee over a smaller amount of ice.

We recommend experimenting with ice amounts to get the coffee as strong as you like. This recipe gave us the most brightness and complexity which is what we love for this coffee as an iced coffee.

Summer Blend Clever Brewer Recipe (Hot):
  • 1:17 ratio (1 part ground coffee to 17 parts water)
  • 18 g coffee
  • 306 ml water
  • 200 F degree water temperature
  • Medium grind (drip grind size) size *12 on Baratza Encore grinder
  • Let steep for 2:45 mins
  • Place Clever Brewer on mug to start draw down
This Clever Brewer recipe results in a sweet cup with bright acidity, and a little more body than a pour over. We love this brew method for its ease of use since you do not need as much technique as a pour over to achieve a great cup of coffee.

We also recommend heading over to our blog article The Magic Of Bypass Brewing and trying this Clever Brewer brew at a 1:15 ratio then using the bypass method of adding hot water after the brew is done to get exactly to the strength and acidity you like.

We hope you enjoy these recipes and the Summer Blend coffee! We also recommend further experimenting with different ratios of coffee and water, different temperatures, different grind sizes, and different brew methods to get the coffee exactly how you want it since coffee is very subjective. Enjoy! ☕
